Givin All My Lovin to FILTER! Vote for Mindless Faith! Awolnation blows my mind! ShipRocked Battle of the Bands

Finally, the recorded version of Filter's ZZ Top cover song, "Gimme All Your Lovin," is unveiled! Give your ears some lovin right now and give it a listen in the music player at the end of this song review!
FILTER, ‘GIMME ALL YOUR LOVIN” – SONG REVIEW

The ZZ Top Tribute Album comes out October 11th and includes cover songs by FILTER, Steven Tyler, Mick Fleetwood, Jonny Lang, John McVie, Grace Potter & The Nocturnals, Nickelback, Wolfmother, Duff McKagan's Loaded, Coheed & Cambria, Mastodon, Wyclef Jean, Daughtry, and Jamey Johnson.
Pre-order the CD here: ZZ Top A Tribute from Friends on amazon.com

I have to say Filter has always been amazing at doing cover songs, from "One is the Loneliest Number" for The X-Files movie soundtrack, to a very dark version of "Happy Together" for The Stepfather soundtrack. This ZZ Top cover comes off just as creative! And I also think Richard Patrick's lower voice in the verse is super sexay. ;)

More in Filter news...a Texas promoter French Smith seems to have ripped off the band at BatFest. So I say karma time!
Metal Sludge

I also found out Filter is playing a headlining show at Recher Theatre in Maryland on October 16, the night before I'm seeing them open for Bush and Chevelle at Fillmore. I unfortunately cannot make it to this newly announced show because I'm already seeing Duran Duran that night. But I'm still seeing my two fave bands two nights in a row, so I can't complain TOO much.

Got my Ticket!
Now, check out this Jane's Addiction remix by Mindless Faith and vote for them in the contest! Mindless Faith is an awesome band from DC/Baltimore. ;) They're some great, talented guys. Help 'em out!

And here's a recent remix they did of one of their own originals.

I just got the "Megalithic Symphony" CD by AWOLNATION. You might be familiar with their song on the radio, "Sail." No two songs on this album sound alike. I am an instant fan. I'm always impressed by eclectic music and they do NOT disappoint me.

Especially check out this song, "Knights of Shame." It's a 15-minute track that changes so many times it blew my mind. This live performance is even more amazing. Watch for the lead singer/guitarist swap with the drummer toward the end.

Also, check out and vote in the ShipRocked Battle of the Bands! One of these bands will get a chance to perform on the ShipRocked cruise in November! And let me throw in a little plug for Cage9 because a friend of mine knows them. ;)

My Birthday: FILTERIZED/Fall Tour with Bush/Chevelle!

Me and Richard Patrick Take Two!
Gosh, where to start? I had a wonderful birthday and WEEK! And a rather large part of what made it great was FILTER! I got to make kind of a last minute trip to NC for the show at Ziggy's and got quite a few surprises. Richard Patrick said my name, which you can see in the video after this. Then he jumped off the stage right in front of me, hugged me and sang right in my face! One of the best adrenaline rushes ever! Plus, before the show we met and got pics with Phil Buckman and Mika Fineo. Then after the show we of course went to see Richard at the merchandise table, and even found Rob Patterson later in the parking lot. A link to my concert pictures is also below. To top it off, Richard told me Happy Birthday on Facebook for the second year in a row! So needless to say, my birthday was Filterized, and it was awesome.

Richard saying my name at the show! (Someone else randomly recorded this and I found it on youtube).

The concert itself was amazing! This was my third Filter concert and this was the most energetic show I've seen from them yet! It was a wonderfully intense performance and I even lost half my voice from "WOO"ing so much. I didn't stay for Saliva, but one of the opening bands was very good: Anew Revolution. I met the drummer briefly before the show and he was the one who subbed for Mika in Filter for a few shows when he had an eye injury.

We actually heard Rich on the radio telling us to come to Ziggy's when we were about 10 minutes away haha.

Now for another big announcement: Filter will be joining Bush and Chevelle for a Fall Tour! I will be catching them in MD in October! Oh and I will actually be seeing them the night after I see Duran Duran for my fourth time. My two favorite bands two nights in a row! Wow, and I just realized it will be my fourth Duran Duran show AND my fourth Filter show! I'm also looking forward to Bush and Chevelle because I've never seen either of those bands live.

I got my Duran Duran tickets in the mail ON my birthday too!
My friend got me this awesome copy of my second favorite Duran Duran album for my bday, which also came out the year I was born.

NOW, for my OTHER favorite band...DURAN DURAN!

This week Duran Duran announced their Fall North American Tour! I was very happy when they announced a DC date! I'm planning to go see them for my fourth time. If you've never seen these guys in action, you are seriously missing out!

As for The Cranberries, which features my favorite female singer, Dolores O'Riordan...They announced a new album is on its way early 2012. Here is a song preview they posted:

And a newer band that caught my ear recently is Awolnation. They actually played a gig in Richmond just a few weeks ago but unfortunately I missed them. You can listen to their entire album on their facebook page.
